GEORGIA

800 MHz Digital Communication Network for Public Safety, Voice and Data Communications--Warner Robins, GA

Georgia state map Houston County Commissioners sought professional services to help plan, engineer, procure, and implement a new P25 800 MHz digital simulcast communication system to support the voice and data needs of their public safety operations (the first in the United States). EAI was selected and completed the user needs assessment by working with Fire, Sheriff, Police, EMS, and Public Works personnel. This provided the foundation for the system design and final specification. Houston County officials asked EA to expand our role from providing solely technical assistance to both technical assistance and project management. The four-site, eleven-channel simulcast 800 MHz APCO P25 system and 911 center were cutover in mid-2004.

800 MHz Digital Communication Network for Public Safety, Voice and Data Communications--Gainesville, GA

Engineering Associates, Inc. provided technical assistance to Hall County on the design, implementation and installation of a new radio system for their Public Safety operations. The seven-site, twelve-channel simulcast 800 MHz APCO P25 system was cutover in 2006. We are currently working with Hall County and their All-Hazards Council on PSIC grants for system expansions.

VIRGINIA

800 MHz Digital Communication Network for Public Safety, Voice and Data Communications--York County, James City County, Gloucester County, Virginia

Virginia state map

Engineering Associates, Inc. was invited to certify the design of a new 800 MHz, APCO Project 25 radio system to serve the Counties of York and James City as well as surrounding municipalities. EAI reviewed the design and scope of work and was invited to consult on all other phases of the project including Factory Acceptance Testing, Coverage Acceptance Testing, fleetmap development and system cutover.

York County and James City County agreed to construct a joint system in order to save both municipalities money and to ensure regional mutual aid. This system is a nine-site, twenty-channel, SmartZone APCO P25 digital system with integrated voice and data. The system cutover was in May 2005. Since the cutover, the city of Poquoson, the City of Williamsburg, and the College of William and Mary have joined the system. The York County and James City County 800 MHz Regional Radio Committee met with representatives of Gloucester County and agreed to expand the system into Gloucester. EA is currently assisting Gloucester County with the expansion of the regional radio system by adding a four-site, six-channel 800 MHz APCO P25 digital simulcast system to the original nine-site system. In order to provide a high level of service to their citizens, we are working with the partners and tenants of this system to establish E9-1-1 center technologies and operations that are identical which provides complete E9-1-1 center redundancy.
